ANTHROPOLOGY

Sandra Elisabeth Nobre paints female figures who seem to belong to a world of their own. Recurring across her work, they appear as quiet, monumental figures - carrying vessels, raising their hands, standing among mountains, animals and trees. Part imagined and part instinctive, this world is shaped by ritual, nature and the quiet symbolism of everyday things. Her paintings are less about telling a story than creating the feeling that one already exists.
