I keep returning to the female figure as a way of exploring our inner world She carries, holds, balances, reaches and rests, quiet, grounded and monumental, yet never without vulnerability. Through her body, and through the animals, nature and objects that surround her, I try to give form to things that are harder to see: inner strength, change, the weight of what we carry, the instinct to hold on and the need to let go. There is often something almost ritualistic about these moments, as if each gesture carries a meaning of its own. My paintings have their own narratives, but I don’t want to explain everything. I want to leave enough open for someone else to enter the work and find their own story within it.
